VIDEO PRODUCTION

My ultimate passion is with the movie industry. Unfortunately, I'm not gifted enough nor do I have the time to thrive in this highly competitive industry. Getting in to movie industry is still a career goal that I'm working towards but for now I will use what I learned about filmmaking to apply it to advertising. When I'm financially stabled and have enough practice from producing advertising videos, that's when I will take a leap to the other side.

"To ensure that whoever possesses it, understands its power. The stone demands a sacrifice."

Omron - Executive Producer

Omron, like other top tier brand in Vietnam, was having an issue regarding cheap knock-off products being sold to its consumers on e-commerce sites. People would unknowingly bought and then brought the fake Omron devices to the maintenance centre, asking for refunds. Omron needed to communicate about the existence and risk of fake product to its customers in an engaging, easy to remember way.

Instead of tackling the matter in an all serious fashion, we chose humor as the way to engage with the viewers. In the video, consumers are put in the daily situation where they would need an Omron product. But since it is a fake one, it started to harm the users instead of help. The doctor then came to save the day with the real Omron product along with calling people to make the right purchase.

As an executive producer of this project, my task included:

   - Pitch a budget-friendly idea to Omron

   - Adapt Omron feedback to the idea

   - Work closely with the script writer and director to visualize the idea

   - Set up shooting plan that would maximize time and resources

   - Quality control on and off set

   - Feedback to get the final draft

Overall, it was a decently produced advertisements. I'm not totally happy with it but it was the best that I could do at the time. I took a lot of notes regarding what I did good and what I tanked, hoping for a better product next time.

Picity - Executive Producer

Being a new investor to the real estate development market, Pigroup needed a way to stand out and advertise its project. We need to do 2 videos: a project video to showcase during the opening ceremony and viral ads to gain attention online.

The hardest thing regarding this project is the timeline. From start to finish, we only have a week. The window of filming was also very specific since its tie in with the completion of the showflat. We prioritize the project video first and then maximize set design, turning different corners of the showflat into different set of "location" to film our funny sketches.  At least that was the plan...

We weren't allowed to continue filming on our 2nd day due to emergency construction issue. We had to move to a back-up location, set up and film the rest of the footages after a 6 hours delay. At the end of the day, we finished all 3 sketches with no overtime needed.

As an executive producer of this project, my task included:

   - Pitch the creative idea to Pigroup BOD

   - Write the detail scripts

   - Work closely with the director to visualize the idea into storyboard

   - Set up shooting plan that would maximize time and resources

   - Quality control on and off set

   - Feedback to get the final draft

Producer's Assistant - HKFilm

My first ever job as an intern was at HKFilm, the definitive biggest filming company in Vietnam. Even though the tasks were simple, the work load and schedule in HKFilm were insane. Waking up at 2:00 in the morning or stay up late to prepare for the shoot were just a typical Tuesday. I've had 3 consecutive 18-hour shifts and a 40-hour shift with no rest in between. The result was worth it. Beside of all these great video that I got to be a part of, I've learned things that I would never be able to learned anywhere else:

- How to plan a successful filming schedule

- A-Z of film production

- Small tips and tricks in the film crew

- Ability to react and solve unforeseeable problems
